Overview The part converting the reciprocating motion of a piston into rotation in the engine is called a crank shaft, and a connecting rod is a precision part connecting the piston and crank shaft, the crank and pin bore is connected to the piston and crank shaft respectively through a piston pin and a metal bearing.
